Summer is fading away, bringing the
oh-so-lovely-monsoon-rains back. But what marks the drastic change, is not the
recurring cough-cold-fever-virus that everyone has been trapped into, but the
end-of-season sale mania!
Titled “Ms. Shopaholic” at my school
farewell, by the juniors, so I know what I’m talking about, baby! Oh, and this
write-up is strictly, girls only! So, if by chance, any boy is reading this, it
is your cue to hit the close button on your web browser. Don't blame me later!
UCB offering flat 50% off, footwear at Mango
up for grabs for discount upto 40%, the grand opening of Forever 21 at DLF
Saket and free gift for the first 100 customers in line! Perky and enthusiastic
females pushing through their way to the racks to lay their hands on that
perfect sash belt or soft-comfy handbag, or the red peplum dress adorned by the
mannequin!
It’s like a time in paradise (I mean
shoppers’ paradise!), and suddenly the world seems a better place. The scarfs tempt you, the dresses lull you into oblivion. And then, the
shopping paradise plays havoc. The evil stares, the jealous glares. One girl
checking out the others for what they’ve picked. That is still the beginning.
Hell breaks loose when a feisty bunch of girls simultaneously grab their hands
on the last pair of the adorably cuddly, stunningly stylish, head-turning high
street fashion stilettoes!
Snatching, screaming, hair-grabbing,
bitching, “I saw it first!”- “But I took it first!” naïve fights, are not just
limited to gossip magazines and masala films. This is something that actually
happens at a shopping store, in the sale season. Maybe skip the hair-pulling
part. But, the rest – screaming, snatching and stupid quarrels, are not just
mere myths. It’s an eye-opening reality, for you all to see and experience
through your very own eyes!
The other customers, the staff, and the
friends/family of those battling for the heavenly stilettoes stand embarrassed,
with eyes dodging in all directions. Any attempt to meddle in and stop the feud
will result in a strong definite backlash. So, it’s best to stay away and let
the bad blood flow. Let it take its own course. Peace will be made-sooner or
later. All you can do is “SHOP ON!”
