JACOB-EDWARD : FIRE-ICE

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

~Robert Frost~

The first time I heard this poem, I was watching Eclipse.
For Bella, the fire was Jacob and ice was Edward.

But, not everyone is Bella. Not everyone has Jacob and Edward, by their side.
It represents our daily relationships. Since then, this poem has stayed with me.
It symbolises fiery rage and cold indifference.

For some, fire is the ultimate destructive force.
For some, ice serves the purpose.

Both fire and ice, both anger and indifference ruins the relations - be it friends, spouse, lover, parents, anything.
But, from what I know of life and love, I think it's ice that's the ultimate destruction.

Anger shows that you still care for the person. You may want him back in your life. Or he might have been a total jerk and you are upset with him.
Sometimes, we are so irritated with someone that we feel like strangling them, or shooting them with a rifle.
But still, whatever it is, it actually affects you. His anger, his tantrums, his irascibility, his stupidity, his attitude.
Somewhere, somehow, we actually care.

But what about cold indifference?
It means that the other person has given up on you. Your existence doesn't matter to him anymore. Whether you live or die, he doesn't care. His callousness, apathy, coldness, detachment. All of it hurts us. But guess what, it doesn't even bother him.
And that is what hurts the most.

That's the reason I believe, relationships end.
No passion left anymore, not even the passion to fight.
Just plain, cold, haunting indifference lurks nearby.

GIRLFRIENDS

This is my first blog entry!
So, I thought of dedicating it to my girlfriends! :]
Here's my simple-plain-innocent attempt at poetry.
Oh, and you got to figure out which one's for you.
Should be pretty easy!
^_^

To:  The Devdas Diva
I love you, forever.
I may not say it, ever.
The shopping, heart-to-heart talks, Dal Makhni, chilled Pepsi
Through all the Jim Corbett madness, you have been pretty messy!
You call up and ask “ Hey, should I date this guy?”
Then, I sigh. “My o my!
Will he ever make you cry?”

To:  "The One Who Tells Me “Teri legs to badi hot hain yaar!”
You are the experiment-er,  the infamous book mishandler,
Basically, a crazy toddler.
I don’t think I can be away from you, ever.
You make every day brighter,
And my mood, even lighter.
We watch 90210, Friends, How I Met Your Mother and now Gossip Girl,
But you have truly been a pearl.

To: The One Who Resembles Apricot
Cuteness runs through you,
I can never bid you adieu.
Together we have grown,
Through all the difficulties we have shone.
Crazy chalk-water-fights, pranks and random-all-topic-talks,
I still remember our playground walks.

To : The Haryana ki NON-Jattni
I never imagined that we’d be friends,
But now even the 2nd semester is coming to an end.
You owe me Arts-faculty’s juice over a bet,
And you really need to stop all the unnecessary fret.
We’ll be there through thick and thin,
I wonder how you are so slim!
I really, really loved how you fought with a crazy-retarded girl to protect me,
I can never explain how special it made me feel.

To: The “Pink-iest” girl I know
We gossip about people who repeat their clothes 3 times a week,
Hindi language for you is complete Greek.
From the sack-race, boating, ice-creams to the Treasure Hunt, Tug of war and your yucky hostel food,
Shopping for shoes turn both of us in a very happy mood!
I eat yummy-home-cooked-food, and you play you-crazy-mobile-games in Law class,
Because what he teaches is total crass.
We both have so much fun,
Oh, and there’s no intended pun.

To :  The One Whose College Canteen is yummy!
We’ve known each other, since very long.
The bond we share is very strong.
From the fights, tears, insane jokes,
To gossiping about crazy-12-year-old-committed school folks.
Christmas-carnival in Saket, our brother-sister Pacific lunch
And discussing about people who deserve a tight punch.

To : The One Who Won’t Stop Chasing Me : From Nursery to College
I hate you!
You wake me up at midnight to ask “Tu so rhi h? Uth. Sun, Stats mei kya important h?”
You don’t have time to meet up,
Even for a coffee cup!
You don’t think of me,
Even for a shopping spree?
Anyway, now you make a plan.
Otherwise, I’ll put you on a life ban!
